Dear Parents

Welcome back to the Spring Term.

Firstly, thank you for all your kind gifts and lovely cards.  I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

Application for a School place – September 2016:
If your child is due to start school in September 2016 and you have not already applied for a place, the closing date is FRIDAY 15 JANUARY 2016.  Go online at www.hants.gov.uk/admissions.

Planning:
Should you wish to support your child’s learning at home, please find below details of the topics we are looking at this half term.  Please share any learning with your child’s key person or on an achievement slip.  We have been reading the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, acting out and looking at sizes.  We will be focusing on a different book each week.

We have provided the authors of the books in case you would like to read the story at home and discuss with your child.

Naming Items:
Please ensure that coats, wellies, hats, scarves, lunch boxes, drink bottles, rucksacks are all clearly named on the outside so they can be easily identified.

Additional needs:
If you have any concerns regarding your child’s speech, hearing or any other aspect of their development, please talk to Debbie who is our additional needs co-ordinator in order that we may involve outside professionals such as speech therapists, paediatricians, health visitors, outreach, portage.

Outside Play:
We tend to take the children out most days, so please ensure they have a warm, shower/water proof coat with sleeves.

Wellies:
When Barclays Bank closed we acquired bags that will make ideal ‘wellie’ bags.  Each bag will have your child’s name on and where possible we would like you to keep a pair of wellies at playschool at all times.  These will be hung up in the foyer.  If you are unable to keep a pair constantly at playschool, please pop your child’s wellies in their bag at the beginning of their session and collect at the end.  PLEASE do not take the bags home.

Parent Rota:
The parent rota sheet is up on the notice board.  Please write your name against the session you would like to stay and play (please ensure that your child has settled at playschool first).  The children really enjoy showing their parents/carers around.

Key Person Allocation:
Where children have changed/added sessions it may have been necessary to re-allocate a key person.  If this is the case you will be notified in due course.

Amazing Achievement Slips:
Amazing Achievement slips enable you to share with us anything your child does outside of playschool such as, ride a bike without stabilizers, sporting achievement, family outing, being kind, holidays, sharing; the list is endless.  The children are very proud when we talk about their achievement to the rest of the group.  If you require any more slips help yourself to the ones on the red parent’s information table by the desk.

Library:
We are still running our library.  All library books can be found in the wicker basket by the red parent’s information table.  If your child wishes to take a book, please sign it in and out.
