Dear Parents

Welcome back to the start of a busy 7 week term, during which we will be focusing on transitions to school, life cycles of butterflies, phonics, Father’s Day, football World Cup, floating and sinking, rehearsing our end of term show, and enjoying the decking.

Decking:

No doubt the children have told you that the pirate ship and surrounding area is back up and running. Thanks to everyone involved. We will be posting pictures of then and now on the website shortly. If anyone has any old saucepans / cooking utensils, we would gladly take them off your hands for the children to use outside.

As the decking now has wood bark down, please be mindful of sending children into playschool with open toed sandals.

Fundraising:

The Easter Cake and Book Sale we held back in April raised £169.00. Thanks to everyone who donated and bought.

Sainsbury’s Vouchers:

Please send in your vouchers asap to enable us to total them up and advise you of the purchases we are making. Check your purses, wallets, sofas, handbags, pockets etc.

Summer Raffle:

We are holding a Summer Raffle again this year. Each child will be sent home with raffle books for you to purchase or sell. Please return any unsold books. Additional books will be available. Some of the prizes so far are a nights camping at Fairthorne Manor, a months full membership at Hamble Sports Complex, meal vouchers, family days out.. A poster with the full list of prizes will be up in playschool shortly. The raffle will be drawn on Saturday 12 July at Hamble River Games and a list of winners will be put up in playschool the following week.

Hamble River Games:

Playschool will be having a stall at the River Games on Saturday 12 July, from 10.00am. We will have face painting, helium balloons, glitter tattoos, lucky dip.

Sunny Days:

If we do have any more sunny days, please ensure that you apply sun cream to your child before bringing them into playschool. If they attend all day, we will re-apply in the afternoon with a high factor, non-allergic sun cream. Please advise if your child has any allergies to sun cream. On hot days we do put the gazebos up and monitor the length of time the children are outside, but it is advisable not to send children in with bare shoulders.

T-Towels:

The children have been busy drawing faces for our annual T-Towel fundraiser. Please look out for the poster when they go on sale.

Last Day of Term and Leaver’s Party:

The last day of term will be Thursday 17 July, however, for all the children who are going to school we will be holding a Leaver’s Party on the morning of Friday 18 July. Children should be dropped off at playschool at 0930. We shall be staging a “short” performance by the children in the main hall to which the parents/carer of those children leaving will be invited. The performance will begin at approx 1145 and last about 15 minutes. After which the children will need to be collected from the rear hall to say goodbye. There will be no afternoon session on Friday 18 July.

We will provide the children with party food and drinks during the morning. Please advise Deb or myself if your child has any allergies that we have not previously been informed about.

If anybody is available to help put out/put away the chairs, please arrive at the main hall for 1115. There is a reply slip at the end of this newsletter.

Learning Journals / Special Files:

Your child’s ‘special file’ will be given to them on their last day. Please keep it safe as your school reception teacher may ask to see it on the home visit.
