The Playschool charges £5.83 per hour until the term following the child’s third birthday, which is payable in advance. For Children aged 2 years old the Playschool charges £7.88 per hour. Children will be eligible for up to 15 hours of free education (subject to availability) from the term following their third birthday which is funded by the government under the Extended Flexible Entitlement scheme. Should your child claim their grant elsewhere, Playschool will charge a top-up fee, in line with the grant payment, which currently stands at £5.83 per hour. Fees continue to be payable when a child is either absent without notice, or absent for a short period. In cases of prolonged absence, parents should consult the Committee. Each child’s attendance at the Playschool is conditional upon continued payment of fees, and for eligible three and four year olds, the completion of a grant claim under the Extended Flexible Entitlement scheme. 4 weeks' notice is required should you wish to cancel your child’s sessions at Playschool.

Eligibility for 30 hours childcare

Working parents If you live and work in England you may be entitled to 30 hours funded childcare support from the term after your child turns 9 months old, until they start school. You can usually get funded childcare for working parents if you (and your partner, if you have one) are:

  • in work or starting a new job
  • on sick leave or annual leave
  • on shared parental, maternity, paternity or adoption leave

The amount of funded childcare you can get depends on:

  • your child’s age and circumstances
  • your income (and your partner’s income, if you have one)
  • your immigration status

If you are not eligible for the working parent offer you will still receive the 15 hour entitlement for all 3 and 4 year olds from the term after your child turns 3 until they start school, irrespective of your income level, benefit status, or family circumstances.

If you or your child receive some additional forms of support, you may be eligible for 15 hours early learning for 2 year olds under a separate scheme and you should speak to your local council and/or provider in the first instance. If you are eligible, you should still apply for the working parent entitlement, but you will receive 15 hours from each scheme (up to a maximum of 30 hours in total).

15 hours childcare

All 3 to 4 year olds in England can get up to 570 funded hours per year from the term after your child turns 3 years old through to starting school. This is usually taken as 15 hours a week for 38 weeks of the year. You can choose to take fewer hours over more weeks, if your childcare provider offers this option.

It's available at participating:

  • full day care (e.g nurseries)
  • schools
  • childminders
  • sessional providers (e.g. playgroups)
  • Sure Start Children's Centres
  • after school clubs

If at any point, you start work after your child has turned the relevant age, meaning you meet the income threshold for 30 hours childcare, you will need to apply. Find more information about the 30 hours childcare for eligible working families in England.

Start date: The offer will start from 1 January, 1 April or 1 September following your child's 3rd birthday.
